The murder of the innocent

Out of hearing and out of sight

There are poor animals that die each day and night,

In slaughterhouses and laboratories

These innocent animals that I grieve,

Are killed in the most inhumane ways

They won’t survive to see another day,

Killed for testing, killed for greed

Slaughtered simply so we can eat meat,

One day they are free and roaming

The next day someone is skinning and boning,

Them to put on supermarket shelves

The meat trade is not even fit for your health,

Yet there it will be upon you’re plate

Any remorse you feel will be too late,

This is what nature strives to create

But we kill them, eat them so we can sate,

And meanwhile in laboratories they die testing cosmetics

Being forced to inhale smoke from a dirty fag,

And some are blinded to test shampoo

And others in the fashion trade end up as fur coats for those who choose,

To look callous under something else skin

The ignorance and arrogance to think we have the right,

To butcher, test, and skin animals and take away their lives,

Is somehow breathtaking to me as we act as if we’re superior to them

Nature creates these species and we should share this earth until the end,

After all you wouldn’t eat your pets that you see as your best friends,

It’s hypocritical and it’s barbaric we don’t need meat to survive

And there are other ways to test and we don’t need to wear their hides,

That just makes you look hideous and causes me to despise,

The vanity that you feel the need to display

It makes me so very angry to see such inhumanity enacted in this way.

  1. Animals suffer so much at the hands of human beings. It makes me angry too and so very sad.
