Impermanence is a unilateral state that defines us as defective,
You don’t need to be a genius, philosopher or a detective,
To see that most of what we do each day is ineffective,
So what is it you intend to leave behind to be remembered
Or are you going to pass away leaving a vacuum of an empty life,
Wasted on trying to gain the meaningless things you thought were right
Mortgage, cars and debt that you worked for your whole life,
But you realise when the end is near and they’re turning out the lights,
That this will not get you remembered over a long period of time
You’ll just be a forgotten entity in the universe you will find,
You’ll have left no mark, no impact, not a single sign
Of who and what you were or even how you were defined,
So maybe you should now open up your eyes and mind
And start working towards creating something better by design,
Like doing something big or kind or leaving an epic story behind,
That will leave your history that will be retold in future times,
Won’t this feel more worthy than a small obituary headline,
See the value within this rather than choosing to be blind,
Then thinking what you’re doing now is anything more
Then simply wasting your life and time,
Within an illusion so futile, it should be a crime,
Is it not about time you did more to leave something worthy to remind
Everybody of your life and history behind.
“Like doing something big or kind or leaving an epic story behind”. – great line worth pursuing at any age. I’ll think about it more in my yoga practice.

I am never satisfied with the commonplace mundane. That’s a start for an epic story perhaps.
