A call of duty

A call of duty is a farce

Going off to kill when you’re asked,

It’s not done out of duty

It’s the sense of the thrill

Of being legally able to kill,

This is not an act of bravery

If you’re doing what you’re told do

It’s an act of compliance enacted by you,

Imagine if they called a war

And nobody actually turned up,

That will be the end of all wars

That’s not a myth it’s an actual fact,

And those who start them

Would then have to change tact.

  1. Remember, in Australia, there was a call to arms forced by the Government enacting a Law that men will receive a notice to enrol them 😔 Shame time for our Sons. Many did fight in the courts if they received a letter to go to war. Many were lost and detained. The war America had to have in Vietnam was not our War, yet the Government of the day in Australia dragged our Boys to kill. The humanity that time was lost. There are no winners in war . These men were only 18 at the time and were still with milk on their lips. Died with being showered with Orange Agent to live in Agony until death raised its head . The Australian Government dragged our sons to die. Amen 🙏

    1. The Vietnam War was unpopular in the USA, too, and eventually lead to the end of the draft and start of an all-volunteer military. Unfortunately, that meant creation of a force willing to take on Iraq (why?), Afghanistan, with no end for two decades. Most of the country is unaffected by these excursions, few protest because “you knew you could go into war when you volunteered”, the volunteer’s choice, not the bad luck of a draft draw. During the draft, you could find men from PhD’s and high school dropouts in the same company. Now, there is a more uniform level of people from similar socio-economic backgrounds and more motivated to make the military a profession.
