Water running down the black obsidian walls
There’s the smell of death hanging in a pall,
That hovers throughout the big abandoned hall
That was once the haunt of soldiers, Queens and Kings,
Now just memories and legendary mythical beings,
Every footstep casts an echo that resonates around
Bouncing off the damp obsidian walls over and over,
The ceiling is so high it can’t be seen in the gloom
The balcony above casts shadows of people doomed,
How can you not shiver and be fearful in such a room,
So big is the hall it reflects how actually so small
We are, not just in here, but in life by comparison,
To the mighty soldiers, Queens and Kings that frequented here
Feel the threatening ambience and the fear,
Nothing in this mighty hall is vacant that is clear
Spirits of these mighty people still reside so near,
That you can feel their presence and their breath on your neck
I think it’s best to leave here now and leave them at rest,
After seeing where the thrones must have sat on the dais
After imaging the multicoloured banners that hung from the balconies,
And the sounds of the gathering now building and rising in my mind
It’s time to leave now and leave this place to the mystical ether of time.
