People see age as the age of decline
You lose strength in power and mind,
That somehow you should resign
Yourself to see you’re running out of time,
That all your energy is dissipating
That, thoughts are harder, it’s so frustrating,
These generalities are so nauseating,
Wisdom comes with time you see
And we learn it’s not all about energy,
Buzzing here and there like honey bees,
Serving others like they are the queen
Following a well trod path without question,
You become a slave and give up being free
Told to serve the corporations by society,
But getting older you soon understand
How much life is in your own hands,
And that it is vital to do what needs to be done
Knowing that you may not have as long,
And you find more time to do more things
You can unlock your inner creativity,
That you did not get time as a worker bee,
But when you’re older you become aware
That you’ve now more time than you think,
And if you take good care of yourself
You can do more because you’re finally free,
Of expectation and are no longer seen
As any worth in society, which is wrong believe me,
This is the time you can really start to achieve,
With all your life knowledge and experience
And skills that you acquired you now see,
That you can do whatever you turn your hand to
The talents you possess you can’t believe,
But through early life you’re treated as worthless
Treated no more than a slave and a commodity,
Made to know and understand your place
As they work you so hard that you can’t breathe,
And if you had your time again you’d break out and break free,
But you never realise how used and exploited you were
Until you reach an older age with wisdom you see,
And start to satisfy finally, your own dreams and your own needs.
