Too blind to see it

You sell your soul to corporations

And give your time, graft and labor,

You sweated blood as you toiled

But in the end your endeavours were foiled,

To keep those who sit in charge of you

In wealth and receive no gratitude,

Just a minimum wage packet

That barely covers your, rent, bills and food,

Only to find they mismanaged and screwed

The company finances which are now askew,

And you find out that you’ll bare the cost

When you realise your jobs are then lost,

And they take huge severances

And ride off into the glorious rich sunset,

Leaving you broke and unemployed

And there’s no money left for you,

And they wonder why you’re annoyed

But they don’t care and just disappear,

Into the luxury they built a world away from this

And finally you get the joke that they take the piss,

And you were too blinded by loyalty to them to see it.

  1. Just think only 45 more years to work till retirement! Not me of course, I’m just being facetious. I worked from 15-65 (and only got to retire early because I have a dead husband), that’s good enough for me. And no, I have no savings on which to retire, but 50 years in food service is enough to make starvation sound good. And if they take away the social security, I can just work again, happy I had my time on Social Security before they got to it.

    1. I’ve worked all my life too, and I retire in 5 years, I’ve worked in a few jobs and done ok, got a pension to get me through old age, everything I have I scraped together myself, no hand outs, no inheritance and no favours. Those I worked for showed little care when I left despite all I did. The pittance I get is what I have earned and what little I got I fought for. But there are those above me who reaped the rewards of the back of that doing very little, so I got no time for those who showed no respect for my graft. 🙏Faux
