The banks only thrive because of our money

Being put into the accounts that they create,

The money they lend is not theirs

It is the money put in by others in our communities,

The interest we earn is based on how they invest

They are gambling our money and in them we trust,

If they get it wrong then there’s no consequences

But if we get it wrong then we are all hit hard,

They hit us with bank charges they are unfair

At a time of struggle how does that ease our problems,

And then they hit us on our credit rating

Which makes it harder if we want loans,

They dictate our credit ratings but what about banks shouldn’t they fare the same,

Like every time they get it wrong should they not compensate us all,

After the banking collapse we bailed out the banks

Yet to this day the tax payers never received a penny back,

Yet they still got paid their enormous bonuses,

And what about the payment protection scandals?

Many have still not received anything at all back,

Many lending companies chose to go insolvent

This is corruption and was their easy way out,

So many people struggle because of how the banks work

Many people suffer unfair charges that hurt,

And who gets the money from those charges

Is it us the customers whose money they play with?

No of course it’s not, they take it for themselves

And that’s why they get paid astronomical amounts,

A nurse saves lives on very little pay

Banks get paid more for the wealth they create,

Not for the poor but for themselves and the wealthy

Not investing in keeping the people healthy,

How is this right and those who are complicit,

Well we all know the answer, it is our governments.
