No more Empires

There have been many Empires

So many great prodigious times,

There have been great cultures

That built great edifices and knowledge,

But in these times all empires are built on lies

Not that there are any true empires now,

Empires rely on strong leaders and thinkers

And there is a great absence of this,

No great poets, no great artists,

No great outstanding authors,

We’ve lost the awe and beauty of past ages

The great sailing ships and spice road travellers,

The sages, alchemists and traders,

Their colours have been replaced with greyness

With metal, concrete and glass,

That reflects back just stunted creativity,

We will no longer see the empires of change

Of great inventions and wonders,

Empires have gone down with the sun

And we have been left with creativity undone.
