Work, little rest, no play.

I’ve lived my life

Spending all my time,

Working hard do overtime

So I could provide for my family

Which sapped my energy and mind,

And this is how my life has been defined

Struggled at school, didn’t comply,

Which within this system

Holds you back in life,

And ended up working in factories

Before moving into the service industries,

Which never paid a lot but offered on top

Endless extras hours to fill the money pot,

So in order to support my family

I did this constantly which demands so much energy,

And I had this plan to break free

And do something more creatively,

But everything like writing seemed a chore

But that wasn’t the issue I was tired

And I could not offer much more,

And any spare time that I could find

Was wasted because of my exhausted mind,

And if it sounds like excuses let me assure

You my friends that it is not at all,

Because a life of hard labour

Is like an extra tax that’s tough to afford,

So now I am just waiting for the time

I get to rest and get away from it for sure.
