We go about our lives each day

living it, leaving a trail,

of destruction and decay

not aware of the damage we do today,

it’s not all our fault, we are not solely to blame,

we have been domesticated to believe

that living this way,

in environmental ignorance

and sweet climate denial bliss,

what’s the worse that can truly happen?

it will get a little hotter but does that matter?

I can’t sea how melting ice caps and rising seas,

is ever going to effect me.

Anyway, I will be long gone when this occurs

and who cares about the destructive curse,

that we are handing down to future generations,

I am sure something will be invented to save them.

As long as I feel no shame about the way I am living today,

I can go about my day to day, continuing causing

destruction and decay because I don’t want to have to

think and act about my actions and take a look back,

at the damage I do without even knowing,

that I was the cause that the dried up rivers stop flowing

and that they cut down all these trees for me,

deforested areas so I could eat beef,

killed assorted types of species for palm oil out of greed,

I watched and stood back passively as they over fished the seas,

fought brutal wars for political and religious extreme beliefs,

allowed innocent children and babies bodies be left in bombed out streets,

as a testament to mans inhumanity to itself and all other species

is it not time for you to see,

that you cannot keep living in ignorant bliss,

that we all need to act and do something about this,

that we all need to bring about change

and do it soon before it’s to late.

Don’t be the one living in ignorant bliss,

don’t be the one to live like this,

be the one who really cares

about saving humanity, bees and polar bears.

Don’t be the one leaving destruction and decay in your wake,

be the one who’s heart will break, at the thought of handing over

this world of death and decay to our children, and feel ashamed.

Fight to make a positive change so we make a start

to create a place that future generations will cherish,

not a world where they are born to perish,

be the one, be the change, be the light in the world

save this planet, our Mother Earth,

fly nature and creations flag unfurled

and be the one who transcended the norm

and changed the way you live in every form.
