People rant and they rage over the smallest things

but show them the big things happening

like the decline of the rain forests and the bees,

show them the decline environmentally

of the coral reef and fish in the sea,

they say ‘these issues are to big for me’,

I cant understand this philosophy,

your Earth is under threat and your silence is killing me,

so apathetic you do not seem to care

and although they say it’s a view they share,

they do nothing but recycle and that’s about it

but Mother Earth needs you to do more to save it.

People rant and they rage over the smallest things

but show them the big things happening,

like the decline of the health service and education

due to threatened cuts or privatization,

they say ‘these issues are to big for me’,

I cant understand this philosophy,

because when you can’t afford the health care cost,

what are you going to do,

when your kids don’t get their grades then you will see the truth.

People rant and they rage over the smallest things

but show them the big things happening,

like wars raging innocent people being killed

huge immigration as they flee the killing fields,

they say ‘these issues are to big for me’,

I cant understand this philosophy,

you scream and shout immigrants out

but don’t stop the wars from being waged

and that is the point,

you don’t stand up for the innocent being killed,

or stop the pain and suffering and you repeat

these words still, ‘these issues are to big for me’,

I cant understand this philosophy,

yet you have have got a voice and vote those in power heed and need,

so if you were to stand right next to me,

those at the top may very well listen

change their policies, change their positions

you have the power to force a change

and saying that you ‘have not’ is a self deluding game.

It’s the position of the lazy and the passive observers

but if you make a change those in power will start to get nervous,

so when people rant and they rage over the smallest things

show them the big things happening,

and tell them to be the change

and bring about brighter days

not just for now but for always.
