I watched 12 years a slave
And reflected on a lifetime of shame,
That must never be forgotten
And that still requires change,
How man can treat each other that bad
Is inexcusable and sad,
That man can be so cruel and brutal
In the name of colour which is futile,
Carried out by men lacking intellect
Just greedy men with no respect,
For life or anything else I suspect,
That they can treat their fellow men as slaves
And demean them in this barbaric way,
And we wonder why they have trouble
To forgive and forget,
I do not class the past as the best period
In human history,
In which there was only shame not victory
Dispicable in every way,
And terrible ugly blot on humanities page.
