Wraiths of Avalon

She found herself alone in darkness

In the middle of the night

Within an emerald forest

That let in no light

She had drawn there by compulsion

She was enticed by all she had seen

By passing by this place daily

Why she had come now at this time of night

Is hard to perceive

Why anyone would come here at night

Beggars any real belief

But she felt this was the right time and she walked

Around this place

She felt the quiet disturbing vibe

Given out in primordial waves.

She saw through leaves and branches

A glow of colour and lights dancing

And went to discover just what it was they were dancing to

But as she broke out the cover of the eldritch gloom

She saw an circle of candles

And dias in the middle

And a flurry of filigree incandescent nymphs

Wraiths of Avalon was their title of which they conveyed

And as they spoke she felt herself rise

They had caused her to levitate

And floating to the center

She did not know the game they played

And a chorus of sing sweet and rhythmic

Started to fill the air

And although she knew she wasn’t she felt as though she should be scared

And as the music reached its peak

The wraiths flew faster here and there

And seemed to race straight through her

And she noticed the fabric of her being tear

And though filled with terror as she saw herself disappear

She was also fill with awe at the ritual they now shared

And soon enough in the shortest of time she herself now was a wraith

Flitting in spirit and light and song

Around this emerald primordial place.
