Rain falls on a grey day
Puddles form, reflecting lights from cars and shops,
Kids splash, they love puddles when it rains,
Rivers of water running down the drain.
I remember days when I loved the rain
Back in my younger days,
Now the cold and the damp
It chills my bones,
But sometimes I wish
I could play in the puddles and the rain.
What’s holding me back?
Guess it’s my own domestication,
Believing it’s not how adults behave,
Adults just don’t play in the puddles and the rain,
Maybe that’s why this day seems so grey,
Maybe if I chose to simply play,
Throw my inhibitions away
Maybe the day will change
And rainbows may come out on display
And make this day a colourful array,
To brighten up this grey day,
So don’t let things get in your way
Enjoy and play every day,
For life is short, so let’s make it sweet
And change our mind set today,
Throw our inhibitions away
And make this day a little less grey.
