Crushed by the weight of expectation
And the awakened realisation
That the responsibility for this life you live
Rests upon the your shoulders which is existentialist
Because for so long we’ve blamed everyone else
Never stopped to look or examine ourselves
We’ve simply waited to be constantly fed
How we should think, act and believe,
Seen only what we are taught to see
Never learnt owning our own authority
For there is no authority but our own
The choices we make are ours alone
The mistakes we make are down to us
But rather than want to sail and navigate our journey
We kind of decided to take and ride the bus
Letting someone else decide which road to take
Slept most of the time, wasn’t fully awake
Reached the destination to find
It wasn’t what we were expecting by miles
So, who you going to blame, them or us
Why are you kicking up a fuss
You gave others control as to where your life would go
Don’t be surprised when it’s someone dark and cold
And a million miles from the place that you could regard as home
Now your bitter and angry because your grey and old
And it’s too late to change but that’s how it goes
When you just decide on going with the flow.
