Body shame

Standard

Healthy body should be our aim

But there is no need to body shame

Many want to be toned and fit

But for many they can’t achieve it

But that’s ok, you can still be happy

There are those who work on the body but not the mind

You can do the reverse that’s fine

Balance is the perfect state

But none of us are perfect do don’t hate

And don’t if you’re in a good place

Think it’s ok to body shame

In the end we must find our own grace.

  1. This was something I had to endure when I was growing up. I was body shamed for being β€œtoo skinny”. It lingered with me for years, until I finally told myself that there was nothing wrong with me. Thank you so much for always writing posts that remind us to love not only ourselves, but to show that same acceptance and love to others. Beautiful poem, Faux. 😊❀️

    • Thanks very much, I grew up being told the same, not big and muscular enough, so focused on putting on weight, now I’m heavier than feels healthy due to thyroid issues that make losing weight difficult, I feel frustrated with that. But overall I just focus on being happy with myself and respecting who I am and who others are. I am so glad it resonated with you and hope you stay healthy and safe my dear friend β™₯οΈπŸ’›πŸŒŸπŸ™ Faux

      • I went through something very similar. I tried to put on weight when I was younger, and I succeeded, only to still be criticized. When I got sick I really went through some weight changes (medications caused weight gain). Now, I’m fine with my size. I’ve been deathly small and I realize that life’s too short trying to look “perfect”. I’ve learned over the years the most beautiful people I have met have been the ones with the most beautiful souls and minds. You are one of those people, Faux. Thank you for your kind words and you are very welcome, my dear friend. Take care of yourself and stay safe! ((hugs)) πŸŒΈπŸ’–πŸ€—βœ¨

  2. Wow, this is amazing! I was just thinking today how I should be happy with my body as it is, whether it fits society’s expectations or not. Like you said, “Balance is the perfect state.” Awesome poem! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
