I walk in the forest
And see such beauty there,
But I can hear an ominous sound
And a foul smell in the air,
I walk a little further
And walk into a vast clearing,
It’s the big machines
That I was hearing,
Chopping, burning,
Grinding, turning,
Trees into logs of wood
Transported away,
These people have misunderstood,
The importance of these forests
Which the destroy in a brutal way,
Leaving behind only ash and decay,
And I can see the future
As humanity fades away,
Into self extinction
Because of this greedy selfish display,
And as we show our ignorance
I’ve only one thing to say,
People take a bow before we walk down extinction way,
And if we don’t protest and pile the pressure on
The governments and corporations to stop,
Then we are as equally culpable
And this will be our lot,
So stand up my friends
And hear the mechanical sounds,
Chopping and burning our way to self extinction,
Take a bow as we leave with no credit or distinction.
