Taken for granted

He treated her as second best
nothing more than just a guest
gave her no attention or time
affection to her, he was blind.
He treated her with such disdain
called her many different names
then was shocked when after much time
she saw the light and chose to decide,
it was time to walk away
to lift her head and finally say,
‘I am worth so much more than this
I have got a life to live’.
And so she packed walked out the door
and now what little love is there no more,
he could not see just what he had done
he could not see the love he had wrung,
out of that women out of his wife
denying her a happy life.
Oppressing all her hopes and dreams
acting selfish acting mean,
he could not see the treasure he had
now it’s gone and he feels sad,
lost alone now on his own
worried that his days will grow cold,
lost the love he took for granted
he had so many second chances
before she decided to walk away.
He knows now he blew it and is afraid
that love will not come by again
so wrapped up in his own pain.
Does he still, even notice hers
does he see all the hurt
the way he treated her with no worth.
Selfish to the very end all about him
and nothing else
and that is why his days are now grey
because he let his twin flame walk away.

      1. “Some” men. 😊 And some women for that matter. It’s why I think breaks and distance and other outlets and connections are so important in primary partnerships.
