Hope yet (Thoughts for those caught up in high rise fire in London.)

Sometimes we can feel deflated

like we have been punctured,

by a world that often seems, like it really does not care

and then there is something bad that arises

and everybody pulls together

in a way that is surprising,

and I feel, wow there is still hope,

maybe there is a chance for us

maybe humanity can cope

but why does it take bad things, for people to act,

to show love and compassion

and to shine that ray of hope,

why can’t we live these actions everyday,

people sharing and caring in every single way,

why does it take

something so extreme,

to get us to take action

and to connect almost universally,

I just don’t know,

why it has to be,

that the rest of the time we spend

alienating everyone and everything,

that surround us,

I just don’t know why,

we have to be moved to such extremes,

before tears well up in our eyes,

it’s just a shame,

for I can see the potential,

for a better world for us

and achieving it’s essential

we need more love,

we need more compassion,

we need more caring and sharing

and make tolerance our passion.

If mankind, is truly going to thrive,

if it hopes to ever transcend

these dark and terrifying times,

I just don’t know,

Sometimes we can feel deflated

like we have been punctured,

by a world that often seems, like it really does not care

and then there is something bad that arises

and everybody pulls together,

in a way that is surprising

and I feel, wow there is still hope,

hope for our humanity,

I just pray that this is and can be so.

  1. And that caring reaches across boundaries. Universally, we ache as one for such horrors that takes lives so senselessly. I weep with London as one. Thank you for the post!
