In a world of such technological advacement
In a world of such wealth and abundance
It’s so wrong that so many should be denied the basic rights
To food, shelter, electricity, heat, and work.
That they should be denied this equality and right to thrive
Is a stain and a shame on all humanity.
In the US, the Declaration of Independence says “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” So why can’t the population agree that to pursue even just having a life does include clean water & air, good food, shelter, and access to decent healthcare? The politicians here are so scared of socialism that they completely forget we need these basic things to even pursue what they claim we are entitled to!
