Some people sell you dreams
Way beyond our possibilities,
They set us up to fail
With their fantastic tales,
Of glory and of success
But to achieve this you need to be blessed,
And if you falter and you fail
They’ll say that’s such a shame,
And they are not to blame
They say that it is all in the game,
And it breaks your heart
For we set our dreams on fame,
They say don’t blame us, blame the game,
Then they drop without hesitation
But it’s not their fault they say,
Don’t blame us, blame the game,
Even though they knew
That it was always likely to end this way,
They lie to us to make up the numbers
But don’t blame them they say,
It’s not them, it’s the game,
Breaking hearts and shattering dreams
Destroying hopes and all our beliefs,
Is not their fault they will say
It’s not our fault, just blame the game,
The game that they meticulously create.
