Drowning

Cast adrift we are like flotsam
Drifting, floating, sinking to the bottom
Then reaching up and gasping for air
Breaking the surface discovering you there
With a hand out stretched ready to save me
I was drowning but you did not fail me
In my time of need you were right there
Showing me just how much you care
But then I remember how I got here
You pushed me in and held me under
These mind games are freaking me out
Love me or hate me I am lost in doubt
Did you push me just to save me
Is this you exerting control over my psyche
Fearful of you yet scared to lose you
My hero my saviour and yet you abuse me
Love me or hate me tell me the truth
Is this benevolence or sadistic abuse.

Can as pointed out by my dear friend Poet Em (Emily Clapper) be read from the top or from the bottom. This was not by design but nevertheless intriguing to me.

  2. Wonderful. And, T, for some reason I started at the bottom and read up and it works incredibly well in that direction also! 🙂
