I have been watching from a far the issue of race and the ‘black lives matter’ movement. It is a shameful reflection on society when people feel the need to reinforce this. However as much as I feel and think there are injustices being carried out by law enforcement in the US is think we should understand most clearly that ‘all lives matter’ and that when we set up movements of clear division then we are doing the man’s work for him. Divisions cause hostilities and hate as shown here in the euro referendum and in the presidential election.
The fact is human life is sacrosanct and all lives matter. 37 people killed in Iraq today. Innocent people. Women and children maybe. But age and gender doesn’t matter. All that matters is innocent people died and this latest atrocity get less coverage that the atrocities in Paris and Orlando why? Because Arab lives don’t matter. Well actually they do or should and we should fight back by all peaceful means tat our disposal to ensure that all injustices against any living thing is held accountable and responsible. We need to put up banners and start movements saying ‘all life matters’ and though I accept black people in the US suffer more we should unite behind the fact that be it black life or white or Arab life. All life matters.
