This broken town

Derelict precinct

Shops closed down

Lost aimless people

Walking round

Drugs and drink help many by

Ghetto town could make you cry.

People who have fallen through the cracks

All nationalities

White and black

In bedsit homes

Fighting to make ends meet

No matter how dark

No matter how bleak

A sense of community still seems to thrive

Somehow people continue to smile

I pass through this town once in a while

Many people don’t for they say it’s vile

But I see people fighting to live

Trying their best to exist

in a world that is not always fair

Within a humanity that does not always care.

This town labeled as a place for loosers

A place for scum

Place for the homeless

For those who run

Away from the normality of life

Still has still potential for love and light.

  1. Seeing beauty is a prerogative of a few and you seem to be blessed with a keen eye.
